Serafina Rojas Chucumaupa

Serafina Rojas is a 65-year-old woman who currently lives in the San Juan de Miraflores area, specifically in the “La Cumbre” community. She came to this place because her family lived there for a while and they suggested she live with them because they were going to buy a new piece of land. She has nine children, all parents, who live in different provinces. After receiving training from Liccet Suárez, general manager of Red Nassf, she decided to start her own business that specializes in the production of wool fabrics and yarns using knitting needles.

She is an artisan who made scarves, capes, hats and other clothing items. For the moment, she has decided to stop producing fabrics, because few people buy from her due to the pandemic, which prevents her from buying more wool. As summer approaches, things get more difficult. However, she hopes to get training so she can find ways to earn more income.

She currently helps in the common pot. Serafina met Nassf through Liccet Suárez’s frequent visits to the community; She attended classes and conferences, and that’s how she got closer to the Nassf Network. In addition to this, the general manager also brought wool to distribute to all the mothers so they could make their first knits. Due to her age, she currently has few dreams for the future, but she hopes to reconnect with the network as she values the opportunity it gave her to get ahead when she was going through difficult times.
